Amazon didn't let me post my original review, which was of course, hilarious. So, here I am again and I'm tired from a day of painting so you'll just have to settle for the condensed version. Don't mind the bed in the pics - we're still waiting on our king size mattress to arrive so for now we have our old queen size on the new platform. You will need:1. A second person - this bed is a beast. You'll need a hand getting the two boxes in through the door too. I felt sorry for the UPS guy...2. A power drill with a drill bit for making pilot holes (more on this later) and a bit for driving screws -there are a LOT of them.3. Find the little nails that are supposed to hold the bottom of the drawers in and toss them - ours were part "J"... They are really poor quality - after the first two bent horribly I gave up and dug through our hardware stash. I used 1" "wire nails" instead and placed one every 3-4 inches.4. Patience. Lots and lots of patience. Some of the directions aren't super clear, but if you've assembled any DIY furniture beyond a bookcase, you should do fine. Why do I need to drill pilot holes? Well I'll tell you - it's because there weren't any drilled to attach the drawer glides to the sides of the drawers and the first screw we tried to place ended up starting to split the wood! So, out comes the drill with a small bit and pilot holes were drilled. This made all the difference!. I recommend this for the two cross pieces on the bottom of the drawers as well, just to be safe. This is a beautiful, STURDY platform with LOTS of storage. The fabric is wonderful, the drawers hold a lot and slide super smooth. There were no wonky edges and everything went together nice and square. Like other people we found the shipping boxes damaged, one was even leaking styrofoam pieces. However, there was zero damage to the contents.I would recommend placing sliders on the bottom of this bed so you can move it if needed. We have wood floors so I just put little 1" round felt pads on each of the spots where the bed has plastic feet. This made it super easy to move into place. We also used our living room to lay out all the parts as there is no way we could have done that and assembled it in our bedroom.PROS - solid, sturdy and beautiful. Ample storage. Cats can no longer get under the bed (or at least they won't once we get our king size mattress). However, if you leave a drawer open they could still slip in - they're sneaky!CONS - not an easy build, but not the worst I've faced. None of the defects I listed were are enough to detract from a 5-star rating in my mind. We are VERY happy with our storage bed!I would not hesitate to purchase this again, though I see it's currently unavailable :(If you want a "matching" headboard, I recommend this one (as seen in my pics)- also found here on Amazon: LUCID Upholstered Headboard Diamond Tufting, King/California King, Charcoal( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B071HBTFHH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )The fabric and color is close enough that likely no one will realize they weren't a set. Take that as you will, I am a detail freak and I'm super happy with how they look together. The headboard also connects to the wall and between the upright supports it pushed the platform out the perfect distance to allow our 12" side table/lamps to fit and still be able to open the drawer closest to the head of the bed. If you look at the third pic I included, I put a red arrow pointing to the upright for the headboard - you can see there how close a match the fabric is.The side lamps were also a score here - and come with a USB port to plug in your phone charger - they make perfect space saving night stands and are super convenient!HomeFocus Shelf Floor Lamp Light with USB Charging Port,Display Shelves Floor Lamp Light,Living Room Floor Lamp Light,Bedroom Floor Lamp Light,White Burlap Shade,Walnut Brownhttps://smile.amazon.com/HomeFocus-Uplight-Standing-Display-Shelves/dp/B07DC5PYQT/ref=pd_bap_rp_21?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07DC5PYQT&pd_rd_r=cdb6e3e4-87f1-475e-affb-c4bdecf9d54a&pd_rd_w=Daq4T&pd_rd_wg=f7Rs4&pf_rd_p=6d817f28-b473-41a6-ab0f-7e6cc5fd42e1&pf_rd_r=AADYM4G0BAH05KWTCFGX&psc=1&refRID=4EDBQE2P8TV7E43H0XVBThe center Stands under the mattress are flimsy and will bend under weight, i upgraded mine by replacing those supports with 4x4sI'm no newbie at furniture assembly. I even find it sometimes weirdly relaxing. I'm decently handy, have built a few shop pieces, and I'm a fair hand at improvising. All that to say this is without a doubt the WORST assembly I have ever gone through. The instructions are incredibly vague, pictures have little detail or the details are blurry enough to be incomprehensible. Several pieces broke throughout the build: one drawer got accidentally stepped in (that one's on me), one drawer glider completely ripped off, one center support piece broke so I had to replace with a 2x4 I cut, screws become easily stripped so I replaced with my own.At the end of the day it's not a terrible value for the cost, but be prepared to pay for that in sweat and tears and more like than not to supplement construction with your own changes. Individual pieces are flimsy, but final product is sturdy. No rocking, warping, or creaks. Drawers are deep. I only needed two of them since one side is against a wall so the broken one was just a terrible annoyance rather than a throw in the towel moment.Don't love that the base seems just a hair too large for a standard queen mattress either. Depending on the angle you can see the slats below. There might even be just enough space for one of my cats to squeeze in so I'll likely have to trouble shoot some kind of cover for the gap.Honestly I wish I could kick myself. This was the worst choice investment anyone can have done. From putting it together to actually laying on it. The bed is cheap the wood is fragile and the size isn’t accurate queen size bed but still has a lot of extra space. The boards keep coming out of the slot the iron keeps bending. It’s a nightmare. I tried getting an exchange or refund but apparently customer service are so rude they just hang up I been put on hold 7 times trying to get help but no one cares. Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.Poor delivery and packaging to start. Amazon denied my first review because I felt the need to explain this. Multiple pieces were broken upon arrival but the item was out of stock so it was return the heavy package or suck it up. I chose to suck it up because I did not feel like trying to haul it to a return location. I had to glue the wood together hoping that would work. Took all day to put together because directions were not clear. Once put togther I did enjoy the height and look of this platform bed but probably wouldn’t have purchased had I known the unforeseen future. You definitely get what you pay for with this one.Bed is really beautiful and luxurious, but took a month to assemble because of missing parts, wrong instructions sent, back and forth shipments. Also, I bought extra bed legs to hold the central poles because they seemed to be the weakest part of the structure. If you need a good bed, simple, fast to assemble, buy Ikea bed. If you want a stunning bed, you don't care to ask for and wait for missing parts, you have power tools and help, then go with this one.Read all the reviews before buying, save you some time! Not worth the money, terrible. We thought we could fix things that were broken but in time after putting bed together, it isn’t sturdy at all. Sadly we can’t return it cause it was taken out of its original box.It was a pain to put together, but is what we needed. A few pieces came in broken and the box had seen better days.. 2 drawers don't fit right. But for the price it works out
